Wedding Photography Overview
I really enjoy covering weddings and my aim is to get a great set of photographs that tell the story of your day, however traditional or contemporary it may be. My aim is to capture your day in a natural way - photography is important but it shouldn't stop you from enjoying and sharing the day with your friends and family. Many of my previous clients have appreciated my ability to naturally capture the day without making it all about posing for hours! I do like to organise traditional bridal party, family and group shots however I prefer not to take hours doing so, and will organise your guests into group shots in a polite yet efficient manner. My style is fairly flexible, and we can discuss the type of shots you would like in more depth during your consultation.
My preferred style of wedding photography is to combine reportage, traditional and contemporary types – Reportage photography is all about candid, natural, as-they-happen moments. Traditional photography involves me organising your friends, family and into groups for some group shots and portraits. Contemporary photography includes photographs that are captured using different angles, or an unusual composition. Using all of these styles allows me to tell the story of your day, however I am open to your own ideas – I can adapt my photography to suit your preference.
All of my packages include:
• A no-obligation consultation. This is an opportunity to meet in person and discuss your wedding day in detail, allowing you to decide if my services fit your needs.
• A preview of your images upon returning from your honeymoon or 2-3 weeks after your wedding.
• A personal web gallery allowing your friends and family to view your photographs and order prints.
• A CD-ROM and DVD Slideshow with over 200 photographs, ready to print with no logos or watermarks.
Wedding Photography – Before the Big Day
Wherever possible, I ask prospective wedding couples to come to my studio for an informal consultation. This is an opportunity for you to view my work and products, as well as a chance for us to chat about your requirements and plans for your wedding. As most couples book their photographer around 12-18 months before their wedding, I don’t expect you to know every little detail about your wedding for the consultation – usually basic information such as the date, time, location and other broad details will be discussed initially. I will show you full previous weddings from real clients along with some sample photo-books and albums. If a face-to-face consultation is not possible, a telephone consultation can be arranged. I reserve your wedding date for a maximum of 4 weeks after you consultation/enquiry. I do not expect couples to make an immediate decision at their consultation, however due to demand I also cannot hold on to a date for longer than 4 weeks without a contract and retainer payment.
You are under no obligation to book myself as your wedding photographer at the consultation. If you wish to go ahead and book myself as your photographer, I require a 50% retainer to give you exclusivity of your chosen date along with a signed copy of my wedding contract. Please note that a date cannot be reserved or confirmed without receiving either of these elements. The remaining 50% can be paid after your wedding, and after you have previewed a copy of your images.
If your wedding is more than 12 months away, I recommend arranging a second meeting around 1-2 months before the date – this gives us an opportunity to go through your wedding plans in much more detail, and for you to inform me of any changes that may have occurred. In any case, I will touch base with you in the run up to your wedding day by email or phone call, however if you have any questions feel free to contact me at any stage.
Wedding Photography - On your Wedding Day
The day is finally here! I will arrive at your chosen venue or home for bridal preparation photographs approximately 1 hour before the bride is due to leave for the ceremony. Bridal preparation photographs usually involve detailed photographs of the dress, shoes, flowers and jewellery along with emotive photographs of parents, bridesmaids and relatives helping the bride get ready. Most of these photographs will be taken in a reportage style however I may ask key bridal party members and the bride to pose for a quick portrait.
Depending on your arrangements, I will endeavour to arrive at your ceremony location in time to arrange some photographs of the groom with his groomsmen before the arrival of the bridesmaids and the bride. When the bride arrives I will take a few quick photos of her with her father and bridesmaids in front of her transport then it's time to get married!
Throughout the ceremony I will be as discreet as possible when taking photographs. My aim is to capture the laughs and genuine emotion of the bride and groom, along with bridal party and the wedding guests, and key moments of your ceremony such as the vows, exchanging of rings and any readers or singers you may have.
After your ceremony, I will take informal photographs of your guests congratulating you on your marriage. we can then set up bride and groom, bridal party and other group shots inside or outside your ceremony venue.
At your reception venue, I am happy to take more group shots and informal portraits of your bridal party, friends, family and guests. I also aim to photograph details such as your wedding cake, table decorations, balloons and favours. If you are having speeches before your wedding breakfast, I will photograph the speeches before leaving you with your guests to enjoy your wedding breakfast.
If you have chosen a package that does not include photography coverage of your evening reception, I will leave as your wedding meal begins. If you have opted to have your reception covered, I will stay until 30 mins after the first dance or until the end of our arranged coverage time. Before I leave I will check with you to see if there's anything else you need me for, then I will depart.
Wedding Photography - After your Wedding Day
After your wedding I will process and edit your photographs. I will filter through them, removing any images with guests caught mid-blink or with eyes closed, or any duplicate photographs. I will give you a call around 2 weeks after your wedding date, or after your honeymoon and we can arrange a preview appointment. At the preview, you will have the opportunity to see your finished wedding photographs and request any changes, such as certain images turned black and white, before clearing the outstanding balance if this has not already been paid. If you choose to pay the outstanding balance at or before your wedding preview, you will be able to take your photographs home with you. Please be aware that I cannot release copies of the images to yourself in any form before payment has been received. At the preview you are also welcome to order additional albums, copies of your CD and DVD or any other products I offer.
All of my packages include your wedding photographs provided at a high resolution with no logos or watermarks on a CD. I also include a DVD slideshow of your photographs set to music, which plays in most standard DVD players.
If you have opted to have your photographs displayed via a password-protected gallery on my website, I will arrange this after your personal preview. Please note that I believe the Bride and Groom should get the first look at their wedding photographs, and for this reason I will not release images to anyone else or put them on my website before the preview.
If you have chosen a package which includes a photo-book or album, I will provide an online preview of your book within 2 weeks of your preview date. The online review allows you to have a look at your book layout and you may request any changes you would like. Again payment for additional products must be made before I can order them.
I hope this helps you understand more about my approach to wedding photography. Don't forget that If there is anything you would like to know, or if you would like to enquire about my availability for your wedding date please feel free to get in touch. You can call me on 01382 220 153 or e-mail me at contact@kirstylegg.com
Best Wishes,
